Frog Love in the Pink Beds

Amphibian awareness program targeting adults. Program begins in the Forest Discovery Center with a short set of songs followed by a slide program on the natural history of frogs and vernal pools. We'll then look at a pool in the garden behind the Center traditionally used by frogs to breed. Those who want to explore the winter woods further can join an easy ramble to check the progress of a vernal pool along the Pink Beds Trail. Program takes place rain or shine, but will be cancelled if recent winter weather makes travel to the Cradle hazardous. Call (828) 877-3130 if in doubt. Light refreshments will be provided.

Admission: $5.00 for adults; free Cradle of Forestry members and for America the Beautiful and Golden Age passport holders.

I-26, exit #40 (Asheville Regional Airport); follow NC Hwy. 280 about 16 miles to Brevard; turn right at intersection of Highways 280/64/276; enter the Pisgah National Forest and continue 11 miles north on NC Hwy. 276. Facility entrance is on the right.
