Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education

GrEEn and HealthEE Center


Mountain habitats is the theme of this educational facility dedicated to exploring NC wildlife. Located in the Pisgah National Forest, the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education is part of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. The center's indoor attractions include aquariums, an auditorium with a video that plays on the half hour, and the N.C. Wild Store gift shop. Outside, visitors can enjoy hands-on exhibits along an easily accessible walkway through a wildlife garden and a trout hatchery.
Group programs are offered to groups of 10 or more and are scheduled at the group's convenience. Special event programs are offered on specific topics throughout the year in which individuals may attend.The center also hosts educator workshops such as Project Wild, Aquatic Wild, and CATCH.

Wildlife in North Carolina magazine is published monthly. Subscriptions are $12 for a year, $30 for 3 years and $150 for lifetime. Order online at www.ncwildlife.org

Mission
To increase awareness and understanding of natural resources, build an appreciation of the outdoors and develop stewardship of North Carolina’s wildlife.

Cost of Programs/Admission
All programs are free- registration required for special events and group programs.

Features
The Pisgah Center sits in the middle of the Pisgah National Forest. In the surrounding area there are many day hikes available -John Rock, Looking Glass Rock etc. There are also many waterfalls nearby: Looking Glass Falls, Cove Creek Falls, Daniel Ridge Falls, Slick Rock Falls, etc. to name a few. So come for a visit to the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education and the Bobby N. Setzer Fish Hatchery and make a day of your visit. Start your day feeding the trout and end with a hike and a visit to a waterfall.

Regular calendar of events and educational courses, with group activities and special programs available. Learn about the diverse wildlife of the Mountains region and the importance of wetlands. Adjacent to Bobby Setzer Fish Hatchery, where thousands of rainbow, brown and brook trout are raised for stocking streams and rivers.
