Methods of Teaching Environmental Education Workshop at Brevard College
Friday, Nov 5, 2010 until Saturday, Nov 6, 2010 5 PM to 5 PM

Schedule: Friday, 11/5, 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm (Please have supper beforehand) AND Saturday 11/6, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Lunch available at cafeteria or local restaurant)

The focus of this 10 hour workshop is to prepare participants from a variety of educational backgrounds and experiences in both the formal and non-formal sectors to use exemplary Environmental Education teaching methods. Participants will learn about a variety of teaching techniques, methods and instructional strategies; and the workshop will include multiple interactive components. This is a required workshop for all NC Environmental Education Certification candidates who enrolled in the program after January 1, 2009. This workshop may also count for Continuing Education for those educators who are already certified.

Note: you must have completed and received credit for the Basics of Environmental Education 10 hour Independent Study, http://www.eenorthcarolina.com/certification/approved_workshops.html
before enrolling in the workshop.

This workshop will take place at Brevard College, Moore Science Annex Building, Room #100; email jefrick@brevard.edu  to register.

Directions:

From Asheville (NC) area and West
Take I-26 to Exit 40 toward the Asheville Regional Airport.
Turn toward the Airport and continue to Brevard (19.2 miles).
Hwy. 280 will intersect at a stoplight with US 64 West and US 276. Continue straight into the City of Brevard (around four miles) to Brevard College. The College will be on your left on North Broad Street. Turn onto the campus at the Brevard College sign on the iron and brick gate. Parking is located immediately inside the gate, at the Bell Tower. Moore Science Building is to the left of the Bell Tower.

From the Charlotte (NC) area:(Approximately time for travel: 2.5 - 3 hrs)
Take I-85 South to Exit 10-B, US 74 (Shelby / Kings Mountain).
Take US 74 West to I-26.   Take I-26 West to Exit 40.
Turn left onto Hwy. 280 toward the Asheville Regional Airport and continue to Brevard (19.2 miles).
Hwy. 280 will intersect at a stoplight with US 64 West and US 276. Continue straight into the City of Brevard (around four miles) to Brevard College. From the Greensboro (NC) area:    (Approximately time for travel: 3.5 - 4 hrs)
Take I-40 West to Asheville.   At the intersection of I-40 and I-26, take I-26 East at exit 46.
Take exit 40 off of I-26. Turn right on Hwy. 280 toward The Asheville Regional Airport and continue to Brevard (19.2 miles).   Hwy. 280 will intersect at a stoplight with US 64 West and US 276. Continue straight into the City of Brevard (around four miles) to Brevard College. The College will be on your left on North Broad Street.
