Mission
Reynolda Gardens of Wake Forest University was established in a series of Deeds of Gift from the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation to provide a place "...for land area to be set aside, preserved and enhanced in the beauty of their natural state, which land areas can become a refuge for relaxation and contemplation and a haven for reflective outdoor leisure." (1961)

Cost of Programs/Admission
Free except for program and workshop costs. Groups must be scheduled through the education office.

Features
The formal gardens, greenhouses, and natural areas were part of Reynolda, the early twentieth century country estate of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Reynolds. The four-acre formal garden has been restored according to the design created by Harvard-educated landscape architect Thomas Sears for Mrs. Reynolds between 1917 and 1921. Antique and modern plant varieties are integrated within the historic framework, providing an exciting and educational garden experience for visitors throughout the year. The restored 1912 greenhouses are used to grow plants for the gardens. The conservatory houses an outstanding collection of tropical and succulent plants. Nature trails wind through 125 acres of hardwood forest, meadows, and wetlands.

Accessibility
Formal gardens, conservatory, and restrooms accessible.

Additional
No picnicking allowed on the grounds. Dogs are not allowed in the formal gardens; they must be leashed at all times elsewhere on the grounds. Other restrictions posted on signs at entrances.
