Mission
Durant Nature Park was established in 1979 to provide the citizens of Raleigh and Wake County the opportunity to interact with and understand the diverse natural heritage of the lower Piedmont region. A variety of programs and workshops have been designed by the Raleigh Nature Program and Park staff. These nature based programs serve different age ranges and either individuals or groups. The park also offers rental opportunities including day use and overnight lodges, group camping, and camp fire circles.

Cost of Programs/Admission
Current programming at Durant Nature Park for the public includes a variety of nature based programs and workshops for adults, family and youth, nature/art programs, family campouts, service projects, canoe rental programs, fireside music concerts, traditional dances with live music and special events including Durant Samplers and the Halloween Trail. Additional nature based programs are offered through the Raleigh Nature Program at many City of Raleigh Parks. A selection of experiential nature programs that tie into the NC science curriculum are offered for school or other organized groups, through the Raleigh Nature Program. These programs can be scheduled at Durant, at other Raleigh City Parks or as outreach programs.

Accessibility
An accessible trail leads to the lake, shelter, bathrooms and playfield. All buildings are accessible. Programs can be modified for accessibility if requested in advance.
