Lake Rim Park offers many programming options. Tree Identification, Catch, Animal Adaptations, Beaver Ecology, Tracking, Orienteering, Birding, reptiles and amphibians, insects and more. 

HealthEE Center
Trails
Lake Rim Park has a walking/running trail called the "Border Trail". The Border Trail is a mile in length. There are alternate routes to take in order to customize your distance. The trail is a crush and run surface, with boardwalks on occassion.
Other Exercise
Lake Rim Park is a participant in the Fishing Tackle Loaner Program. This program is free and Lake Rim Park lends you a fishing pole and reel for 24 hours. Lake Rim Park offers kayak river trips and kayak classes.
The park also has tennis courts, sand volleyball, soccer, football, and softball fields, and two age appropriate playgrounds.
Health Programs
Lake Rim Park offers summer camps, where the emphasis is on outdoor adventure. The campers participate in fishing(CATCH), kayaking(upper body) and indoor rock climbing(mind and body).

Lake Rim Park is open to the public from 7:00 am to 9:00pm March-October and 7:00 am -5:00 pm November - February. The Gillis information center is open from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday.

Cost of Programs/Admission
Lake Rim Park is free to the public. The park has two covered pavilions for rent. Half day rentals are $40 and full day rental are $70.

Features
Lake Rim Park is home to many "Tar Kilns". Lake Rim Park offers historical programs educating the visitors of the Naval Store industry that was very prevelant many years ago. This industry relied on the presence of the Long Leaf Pine tree. The extraction of pine tar and pitch was refined to be turned into turpentine and resins, used to preserve and maintain wooden ships.
