White Deer Park


White Deer Park consists of a 2500-square-foot nature center with all weather restrooms. It also features more than 2.5 miles of accessible paved walking trails and .5 miles of greenway, five picnic shelters, a natural learning playground and a recreational playground, wildflower meadows, an arboretum and all the necessary infrastructure for these facilities. The Nature Center will achieve a LEED Silver Rating from the US Green Building Council for its many environmentally sustainable features. White Deer Park is a safe, predominantly passive park that is sensitive to the environment, preserves wildlife habitat and is aware of its impact on surrounding areas.  The park provides educational opportunities, promotes health and wellness within the community and serves as an example of environmental responsibility and stewardship. The Nature Center also houses the presereved mount of the white deer for which the park is named.

Hours of Operation
White Deer Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Nature Center hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Sunday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM. The Nature Center is closed on Mondays.

Directions
From I- 440/I – 40 Take exit #299 Hammond Road/ Person Street. Drive south on Hammond Road. Hammond Road then becomes Timber Drive. After several miles, turn right onto Aversboro Road. White Deer Park is approximately one mile down the road on the right, 2400 Aversboro Road.

Mission
White Deer Park is a safe, predominantly passive park that is sensitive to the environment, preserves wildlife habitat, and is aware of its impact on surrounding areas.  The park provides educational opportunities, promotes health and wellness within the community and serves as an example of environmental responsibility and stewardship.

Cost of Programs/Admission
There is no admission cost but program fees vary. Please check the Web site for program information and updates.

Accessibility
All aspects of the park meet or exceed the ADA requirements. The 2.5 miles of trail are all paved and accessible as well as the play areas and Nature Center.

Specific Locations Served
White Deer Park is a local as well as a regional attraction for all who wish to learn more about the many aspects of our natural systems.

Additional
Educational programs must be scheduled and paid for at least three weeks prior to the date requested. These programs are designed for groups of twenty or less. Larger groups are welcome but may be required to separate in to smaller groups and pay additional program fees.
